Ally enjoyed watching the sunrise every morning. The dewy freckles sprinkled over every leaf in the garden, weighing them down a bit. She liked to rub her nose against the droplets, feeling the coolness against her often irritated nose. Today was looking to be another beautiful day; the sun rays were beginning to peek out over the mountains in the distance; a slight breeze made her shiver in its cool embrace. She smiled and adjusted her gardening gloves. Another day of tending to the flowers, fruits, and vegetables was ahead. She couldn't complain though, she loved plucking fresh strawberries off the vine and tasting the sweet juice explode in her mouth. "Scrumptious!" she giggled, returning to the overloaded vines. She pulled up a wicker basket beside herself and began to load it up, looking for the most perfect berries to serve to her guests at the 3pm tea party later that day. As she finished, she heard Tulip, her crowned mip, make a squeak. "I haven't forgotten about you, Miss Tulip" she smiled, placing a small handful of fruit on the ground for her to enjoy. Tulip squealed with delight as she began to eat them. Ally moved to the tomato plant, impressed by the yield. "These will make lovely tomato sandwiches!" She began plucking the ripest ones, careful not to remove the ones that weren't quite ready. *A-AH-AHCHOOO!* Oh, for Pete's sake! Tomatoes always made her sneeze. Tulip looked startled for a moment, then licked the strawberry juice off her paws. Ally pulled out her handkerchief and continued to make her way down the path.

Raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries all shone in the morning sun. She was having a hard time deciding on a menu for the party, as her head started feeling heavy and her eyes watered. She decided to sit in a warm patch of grass and relax for a moment, careful not to overexert herself. "I wonder what it's like to not be sick all the time!" she wondered to herself, stretching her legs out and letting her head touch the soft grass. She tried to envision just one day of walking through the garden without feeling so ill. She imagined burying her nose into a patch of lavender and taking in the delightful smell without it making her break out. "If only I could beā€¦normal" she sighed, closing her eyes and allowing the sun to engulf her. Her head was still spinning, so she popped an allergy pill out of its plastic covering and swallowed it down. Determined, she returned to her work.

For hours, she tended to the patches of flowers, picked peaches, pears, and oranges from their trees, and filled her basket up to the brim. Satisfied, she returned to the small sunroom and began washing her lovely harvested fruits and vegetables. She cut and pitted the peaches, peeled oranges, chopped up tomatoes and placed them on small slices of sourdough bread. She arranged the berries in spiral patterns on a serving platter and began warming up the water in the kettle for tea. The sunroom was home to a beautiful round ivory colored table with six chairs around it, all draped in delicately patterned fabric. Against the back window was her collection of stuffed plush dolls-ER, party guests; who all sat with smiling faces. Some wore elegant hats, some wore dresses, while others had missing eyes (those were the oldest, most esteemed guests!) "Good afternoon, everyone" she curtsied, "who will be joining us this afternoon?" She smiled at the familiarity of them, picking out five guests to accompany her. She sat them at the table, planting a light kiss on the top of all their heads.

The kettle began to wheeze, and she placed a teacup on a saucer in front of every guest. She had decided on a peach black tea that day, which often made her feel warm and fuzzy. "I'd like to welcome you all, on this beautiful day, to Miss Ally and Tulip's tea party. Please, help yourselves to the food, and enjoy this lovely peach tea I've made for you all." She began pouring a small amount in each cup and placing a couple of peach slices and berries on the saucer next to it. She took her seat and poured herself a cup up to the brim, taking small, frequent sips between bites of a tomato sandwich. Suddenly a wave of disappointment flooded over her. She thought about the twin girls that lived next door and imagined them joining her instead of the plushies. As much as she loved them, they weren't real, and she couldn't help but feel a pang of loneliness that radiated to her core. Mom and dad were always cautious about her having friends over, as she was so susceptible to getting sick. She excused herself from the table and made her way outside, sitting near the torrent shaped fountain. It was about sunset now, and she saw the first flicker of a star in the sky.

"I am calling upon you, star, please grant me health and heal my scars; all I'd like is to make some friends, and play outside until daylight ends. I would like to know what friendship is like, frolic in fields, perhaps go on a hike. Why am I shielded, trapped in this beautiful prison; blooming with life, yet I've not risen above the ailments that haunt me when I go outside and the other kids taunt me. I'd like to show them just how lovely I am, perhaps we could pick berries and make some jam. I just want to be normal and live a life without illness, to join the bustling world, away from this everlasting stillness."

Her eyes began to tear up, and she touched the cool water with her fingertips. She could see more stars beginning to dot the sky in the reflection of the water. A tear rolled down her cheek and splashed, creating a small ripple. She decided to end her day, forgetting her friends at the tea party, and made her way back into the house. Pity how such a lovely day turned into a rather sad one.
