I'm Silver. I'm a video gamer who also happens to be a college student seeking a Bachelor's in Computer Science with a minor in Space Studies (I want to become an astronaut, y'see). I grew up on the old Genesis Sonic games and PS1 platformers (Crash and Spyro, before they sucked), but today, I gravitate more towards obscure JRPGs (namely, MegaTen), other games made by smaller developers, and Nintendo's most obscure "main" series, Metroid. Oh, and I like Poke'mon, too.

Some particular games I'm fond of (in alphabetical order):

Crash Bandicoots 1 - 3 and Crash Team Racing (PS1) - aka "The only good Crash games". The first four on the PS1 were made by the original developer Naughty Dog. You might know them as the developers of the PS3 killer-app Uncharted and its sequel, Uncharted 2. The first Crash game was evil - in order to get a "gem" for a level (needed for 100% completion), you had to break all of the boxes in a level and get to the end of said level, all without dying once. In a game where touching an enemy without a mask item or falling down a pit or other hazard (of which there are many) is an instant death. Yeeeaah. Luckily, this "no dying" clause was removed in later games. Crash 2 is my personal favorite of the three main games, because of the combination of old and new art direction, hard-to-find secret levels, and the fact that it still had some semblance of difficulty (unlike Crash 3, which was waaaay too easy). Crash Team Racing beats Mario Kart anyday, even if the A.I. is really cheap. I like playing as Ripper Roo, myself.

Final Fantasy X (PS2) - The first FF game I've ever played...and the only one I've beaten. Unlike the games before it, this one uses actual turn-based battles instead of that incredibly annoying ATB system. My first playthrough of the game was slightly marred by the fact that Tidus is Ratchet, which made his (OMFG SPOILERS) romance with Yuna a bit disturbing for me. Subsequent playthroughs didn't have this problem, though. For the record, my favorite character is sexy bastard Auron.

Kirby (series) - One of my gaming guilty pleasures. Yeah, the games are extremely easy (barring freaking Canvas Curse), but that doesn't keep them from being fun. And yes, they're really cutesy, this reinforcing the stereotype that girls like cute games. They're still fun games, even if the main character is a cute, pink Eldritch Abomination. My favorite power is Hammer. STOP--Hammer Time! *shot*

Legend of Zelda (series) - I have a love-hate relationship with this Nintendo series. It really depends on the game. Some have far more "love" than others (absolute favorites being Oracle of Ages/Seasons, which weren't even developed by Nintendo), while others I absolutely can't stand once I hit a certain part in the game (looking right at you, Twilight Princess). A Link to the Past I find overrated, Ocarina of Time is also overrated (though an absolute masterpiece compared to Twilight Princess's second half), Majora's Mask is made of total win (new mechanics, art direction, and fewer dungeons that were actually fun), Wind Waker is also made of total win (a true sense of exploration and very lovable characters), Twilight Princess sucks compared to the other 3D games (first half? Awesome. But after you get the Master Sword, everything goes seriously downhill, throwing out the new stuff in favor of "playing it safe" ), Oracle of Ages and Seasons are how the games in the series SHOULD be (an actual STORY with actual characters, fun dungeons, a "magical" atmosphere, and great items), and Minish Cap was a bit too short. Yes, I don't think Ocarina of Time is best Zelda game ever. Want to make something of it?

Metroid (series) - My absolute favorite Nintendo series, and one that I think should get more recognition. Samus Aran is way up there on my list of favorite video game characters, and the Metroid Prime games are some of my favorite adventure games ever. I also love the 2D games, too, Super Metroid being my favorite (though Zero Mission and Fusion are very, very close). Fun fact about myself: Metroid Prime was the first game I ever played in this series, and I only picked it up because Electronic Gaming Monthly gave it three straight 10s in their reviews.

Odin Sphere (PS2) - A very pretty and very fun side-scrolling action RPG developed by Vanillaware (a small developer) that pretty much no one has heard about (though its spiritual successor, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, got a fair amount of media coverage). The story is even better with Japanese voices (even if Yuri Lowenthal is in the English voice cast).

Okami (PS2) - One of my absolute favorite games, ever. Period. Take Legend of Zelda. Make the dungeons fun. Make the story on par with that of RPGs in terms of length and complexity. Make the art direction absolutely gorgeous. And then add lots and lots of painting. Congrats, you have just made Okami, one of the best adventure games ever. See my profile layout? The game literally looks like that.

Pikmin (series) - A rather obscure and charming "series" (there's only two games) developed by Nintendo that was part RTS, part adventure. It revolves around these little plant-beings called Pikmin, who have different properties based on their color. The game requires a lot of thinking and (in the case of the first one, especially) time management. While not UP there on my list of absolute favorites, it's still a series I enjoy coming back to.

Poke'mon (main series) - "Main series" meaning "developed by Game Freak". My first RPG series ever, and still really, really addicting. I'm currently awaiting the release of SoulSilver in the US. Favorite Poke'mon include Espeon, Ninetales, Lugia, and the other Eeveelutions. You'll know it's me on Battle Revolution online when you're up against High-Tech Maniac Silver; the back of my card talks about how I love MegaTen.

Psychonauts (PS2) - A platformer made by Double Fine Studios, spawned from the twisted mind of Tim Schafer (you know Brutal Legend? That's this guy). Generally remembered for its insane and often hilarious characters and levels, not to mention having a really bizarre Tim Burton-esque art style. Too bad it bombed sales-wise.

Ratchet and Clank (series) - I've only played the first three PS2 games, myself. A platforming series by Insomniac (who also did the original Spyro trilogy and Resistance) that focuses both on...well, platforming and using a variety of insane weapons to make things go boom. Favorites of mine include the Minions/Agents of Doom, the Spiderbot Glove (OMFG Tachikoma!), and the N60 Storm. The series is also well-known for its sadistic sense of humor (again, involving things, usually cute and cuddly creatures, going boom, always in faux TV adverts), which is another reason why I love it so.

Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) - Yet another game by a small studio, this one being an extremely haunting adventure game involving the slaying of sixteen Colossi. Also happens to be a prequel to the cult hit Ico, which I myself have never played (in part due to the game being so damn expensive).

Shin Megami Tensei (series) - My favorite video game series. It's a JRPG series developed by Atlus (and is like how Final Fantasy is to Square Enix) that is notorious for being difficult...not to mention making God a massive prick. I haven't played nearly all of the games in the series, but those I HAVE played, I love. Persona 3 FES and Persona 4 are both my favorite JRPGs ever, easily. Both of them are 120-hour-long masterpieces with long, dark storylines with great characters and a great turn-based battle system. Also, these two games are why I love Yuri Lowenthal so much. Devil Survivor is a game on the DS that is also really, really awesome, with the same aspects as the two Persona games (but not nearly as long), and a battle system that's a hybrid of tactics RPG and turn-based RPG. Favorite demons include Jack Frost, Yamata-no-Orochi, Thanatos, and Trumpeter. Oh, and Mara, for the lulz.

Sly Cooper (series) - A platforming trio by Sucker Punch (they made InFamous) about stealing things. In the first game especially, a good amount of it is based on doing insane manuevers with a few button presses to get to otherwise unreachable areas and steal stuff. The second and third games had more gameplay as other characters other than the titular Sly, but Sly's gameplay will always be my personal favorite.

Sonic the Hedgehog (series, stopping at Sonic Adventure 2) - As far as I know, the Sonic series ended at Sonic Adventure 2. There are no other Sonic games after that. Sonic Heroes? What's that? Also, best game in the series is Sonic 3 and Knuckles, hands-down.

Spyro the Dragons 1 - 3 - aka "The only good Spyro games". These three games were what Insomniac was making before they went to work on Ratchet and Clank. The games have a structure similar to Mario 64, but with more of a focus on jump puzzles (first one especially...), at least before the newer continuity came out and decided to screw everything up.

...I only have a PS2 and a Wii, alongside my Nintendo DS. ;_; I want to get a PS3 so badly...
I also frequent certain forums, namely the Sega of America, Neocolours, and Twilight Sucks forums, all under the same username, Silverevilchao. If you see Chaos_Rayquaza on Gamefaqs, that's also me. I used to go on Neopets (also as Silverevilchao, with a secondary account called Goldherochao) before I got sick of it and they slowly started ruining it bit by bit. I also am seriously addicted to TVTropes. It will ruin your life. Just a heads-up.
I'm also an anime and manga fan. Series I like to watch include Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Trigun, and Black Lagoon. I also watch Peacemaker Kurogane, but it's primarily to make fun of how unintentionally hilarious it is.

My manga series are different. I'm a huge fan of Rurouni Kenshin, but also like Kurocrapsuji, D. Gray-Man and Full Metal Panic!.
I watch a few online shows, too - namely, stuff like Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series (IN AMERICA!), Dragonball Z Abridged (DODGE!!), and Sailor Moon Abridged (I LOVE THE SCREAMS OF CHILDREN!!!). Ok, all I watch online are Abridged Series, so sue me.
I mainly listen to video game music and anime music. I primarily like the Persona 3 and Persona 4 soundtracks, as well as songs from Metroid, Kirby, and Zelda, not to mention the fan-made Sonic remixes I also listen to. Anime music is generally the full versions of the opening and ending songs that I've seen in my favorite animes or ones that I happen to come across online.
