plink, plink, you hear.

This place is cluttered, but in the dim lighting you can't make out more than general shapes. There seem to be a lot of small humps, and a faint odor wafts through the air. Sweet and cloying, like very good cheese, or very bad meat.

plink plink, plink. That sound again.

In one corner you notice something glowing. It's hard to make out, rather muzzy and strangely distant, so it's tempting to lean closer. And as you stare longer, you resolve the image of two white eyes, lunar and staring. Squinting, you begin to make out a little more detail--small bat-like wings to either side, perhaps little horns or ears.

You stare at it, and it stares at you, and you hear a soft plink plink plop and feel a sudden drop of wetness on your hand. One look, even in this dim light, is enough to tell you that it's blood, red-black and still warm. Perhaps you hold your breath, perhaps you back away, but you should definitely look up. Or maybe you shouldn't. A blur of red and black and an impression of stripes is all you'd see, anyway.
